It's a Boy!!!

Well, after many agonizing months of hounding Ben about finding out the sex of the baby, we finally have an answer! We are having a boy!!! We had an ultrasound on Thursday, and the technician put the pic in a sealed envelope for us to take home - since Ben wanted to wait to find out. The envelope lasted about an hour on the coffee table before Ben could not stand it anymore. I knew he wouldn't be able to wait... So, now you can all start your shopping, and we can have a nursery fit for a boy!

As for our Christmas travel plans, we will be in OK from Dec. 27-31. It is going to be a quick trip, but we are looking forward to seeing everyone.

19 weeks

Well, here is a photo, finally. I am 19 weeks and feeling the baby move now. I went to the doctor yesterday and the heartbeat is fine. It is around 148 to 151. He/She kept moving around in there. I will go for an ultrasound next Thursday to make sure nothing is deformed. I have not gained any weight. I actually lost a pound! So, I hope to not gain much except for baby weight.

We had a really nice visit from Dad and Susan last week. It went too fast as usual. Dad kept himself busy and got the baby nook painted. It looks great! I can't wait to decorate it. Susan made some pillows for the living room (I helped a little). It is finally starting to come together in there! There is still a lot left to do before the baby comes, but I just hope we get the bathroom finished before May. That is the main goal now. I'll post more pics of the "nook" and other rooms in the house soon.

Baby Arrival!!!

I just spoke to my friend Nicole, and she had Kate Virginia on Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm via c-section (November 21). Mom and baby are happy and healthy. She is 9 lbs and looks like Justin. They will have pics posted soon after they get home. Her baby blog is:

A Pirate's Life for Ben

I don't really have any baby updates for you today. I think I felt it move yesterday, but I'm not sure. Ben swears he felt it! We've decided where the baby will sleep for the first few months - in my closet! It is a good size room and it is more of a nook off of our bedroom. So, we will be close by, but have our separate spaces. I wanted to put it in the laundry room (which is a large bedroom size room) but Ben said I would have a hard time doing laundry. I guess he's right! Once we finish the bathroom downstairs we will probably move our room down there, so the "kids" can be upstairs. I'll post some before and after pics of the "baby's room" soon.

In other news, Ben enrolled in his first "real" college course Friday. He is officially a Pirate now. He is so excited, he walked around the campus by himself in the snow. Yes, it started flurrying in Greenville, NC. He will be taking a nutrition course online this spring. He will take the rest of his courses at JSCC.  That's all for now.

Good To Go

We had a doctors appointment yesterday and everything is good to go so far. The heart beat was 152, so that is good. It was our first time to hear it, so that was pretty cool! Ben got really excited and just knows it is going to be a little runner. He said I am 15 weeks as of today, so our due date is now May 5th, which is cutting it too close to the end of school! I guess I will just have to be really organized and have the grades done a little early! I am so thankful that I will have the summer off to enjoy with our new addition.

I am now wearing maternity clothes and I am sooooo much more comfortable. I feel so cute! I have a whole new wardrobe, even though it is a little big. I know I will grow into everything. (Thanks Suz and Lin!) Since I need to start wearing maternity clothes, I plan to tell my boss today, so wish me luck! I am also telling my classes and co-workers. They are all the last to know.

So Pregnant, And Yet So Far Away

This is the first of many posts to keep you all updated on what is going on in the baby bump world of me. So far, I have not had any morning (or evening) sickness. I am repulsed by certain foods, and smells (Ben showers more often due to my overly sensitive nose). When I go to the grocery store, I can smell all of the foods in their packages on the shelves. Yuck.

My pants will fit for probably another week, and then I will have to do some wardrobe shopping. I put a pair on this morning, and they are more snug than last week, so next week will be worse I am sure. There are many other changes happening, but for now I will just tell you that so far so good.

We have other good news on the home front. Kayla will not be moving away as previously suspected, so we are very thankful for that. She has asked for a basketball goal for Christmas so Ben is excited. She wants to practice so that she will "be good" when she can finally start playing in the league.

That's all for now.
